Dental Fillings and Bondings

What are Bondings?

Tooth bonding is a cosmetic dental procedure where a liquid resin is used to reshape chipped, cracked or misaligned teeth and fill in unsightly gaps for a perfect smile. Many patients are bonding teeth for aesthetic purposes, but this process also helps to eliminate everyday frustrations such as food getting caught in gaps between teeth. There are several different materials to choose from, depending on the patient’s preference and budget.

Bonding is a painless procedure that comes at an affordable cost, and is usually completed in a single one-hour visit.

What are Dental Fillings?

Dental fillings began in the 1980’s when dentists began restore cavities by removing the decayed portions of the tooth and filling in the lost structure with silver amalgam. Since then, filling has become a common practice that has advanced in many ways over the years.

There are now several different filling materials available. The most popular is the mercury-free tooth-colored composite resin we use at our Naples office. This resin restores the natural look of your tooth while protecting against future decay. It also gives our patients the relief from uncomfortable side effects of metal-based resins, such as lack of insulation against hot and cold temperatures.

Once the resin is applied, Dr. Acosta will shape the filling to align with the natural curve of your tooth for a clean, subtle filling that will match your restored smile!
